The Station maximizes its iconic location by not maxing out its building envelope. Respecting the historic precedent of the trolley easement, it is oriented to provide as much exterior dining space as interior space. Certain elements of the original building were salvaged and incorporated into the design resulting in an interesting variation of places to dine within the small footprint of the original structure. An outdoor patio evokes a train platform while the outdoor space is punctuated by a tower articulated with solar panels. A welcome addition to any neighborhood, the blend of old and new with a quirky twist is uniquely South Park’s newest eatery and hangout.

I heard this just one an 'orchid' award and it a deserving one - simple and elegant. It makes the most of San Diego's perfect weather. We need more places like this. Simply beautiful.
Nice post! YOur designs are original, botanically inspired. I may have to drop by in that place to check it. Its worth doing
debt relief to get an assistance from your company.

Love the station! Finally a place that has more outdoor than indoor seating, celebrating the great weather we have 11 months out of the year and the great neighborhood it's in, letting one enjoy the urban environment while dining, drinking, talking!!!
PS: When comes the beer garden in Balboa Park ?

I like how this was designed...knew when to expand and knew when to stop...not overdone like so many archistars create...it is what it is and it it not trying to be anything else.

San Diego needs alot more spaces like this. It harkens back to the many cool spaces that one can find in Portland, Oregon and New Orleans. The transparency and overall openess of this structure makes it a wonderful outdoor venue to watch the flow of people walking by along Fern Street and also makes an incredibly comfortable space to meet and greet with friends, family and neighbors.

Thanks to whoever nominated this gem. I remember when it used to be "Snippy's". I'm glad they did something fantastic with the space. I can't wait to grab a burger & beer.

The Station is finally open and well worth the wait. It beautifully and gracefully blends elements of old and new and is respectful of the need for open and transparent spaces. A fine example of historical preservation and adaptive re-use, it works so well in complementing the Burlingame Garage spaces that were renovated about a year ago. Fern Street is a gem.
