Locally, the flagship chocolate café in San Diego: Maya Moon Collective is a cornerstone of community connection. In addition to being a bright and beautiful gathering place centered around delicious gluten free and vegan drinks and treats, they offer weekly events that bring people together in meaningful ways. Since they opened in August 2021, they have hosted more than 150 yoga teachers, musicians, artists and wellness practitioners from across Southern California to share their uplifting offerings with more than 1,500 community members. Many of these events are free to ensure access for all people. They also source produce They use in the café’s menu from local, organic farms, and the honey they use in our chocolate truffles comes from local sustainable beekeepers.
Maya Moon Co gives back to the broader community through charitable contributions and products for a cause. In April 2021 they launched our ECOLIFE chocolate truffle box in partnership with ECOLIFE Conservation, a local non-profit. ECOLIFE works in the United States, Mexico and Uganda to improve access to healthy, sustainable foods and reduce carbon emissions. They kicked off the campaign with a virtual wine + chocolate tasting experience to generate initial interest, and a percentage of sales from each box sold is donated to support ECOLIFE’s mission. Maya Moon Co also donates products each quarter for local wellness non-profits to use for fundraising auctions.
Globally, Maya Moon Co is supporting healthier, thriving communities where they source cacao. One hundred percent of Maya Moon Co’s cacao is direct trade from organic and regenerative farms in Ecuador and Peru. This level of sourcing transparency makes up less than five percent of all cacao purchased around the world.
