Rising triumphantly from the western edge of Balboa Park, The Park, Bankers Hill introduces a new architectural chapter into the legacy of the area. Surrounded by lush lawns and majestic trees, this modern, 14-story mid-rise designed by world renowned architectural firm DIALOG is virtually an extension of the historic park. The Park’s glass walls embrace the soft sunrise, sparkle under the enchanting skies and reflect the brilliant ocean sunsets. With the northern edge of the tower wrapped in book matched Volakis Marble sourced from Greece, no detail has been overlooked. Airy terraces and translucent walls preserve the views of the bay and mountains, inviting the natural beauty to surround and encompass these contemporary residences.

The luxury residential building offers 60 homes and two street level retail spaces. Offering an average of 2,374 square feet per residence, plus an average 468 square feet of outdoor living space, each home at The Park features expansive terraces and open floor plans that include floor to ceiling glass walls and offer a sleek and airy modern motif. Sweeping panoramas of the surrounding green and open space of Balboa Park, the downtown skyline, the San Diego Bay, Coronado and Harbor Island add to the property’s urban appeal. Understated yet elegant interiors convey the sophisticated essence of the neighborhood, with handsome wood flooring, recessed lighting, gourmet kitchens featuring Miele appliances and Boffi cabinetry, marble-clad master baths with large soaking tubs and soaring ceilings throughout.

Recognized as a leading thinker on urban design, with extensive experience creating vibrant, sustainable communities in cities including Los Angeles, Beijing, New York and Edmonton, Alan Boniface – managing partner of award-winning architecture firm DIALOG – is the lead architect for The Park, Bankers Hill.

Says Boniface, “In addition to this project, I’ve also designed luxury high-rise buildings in various parts of Canada, including Vancouver. The Park’s design mimics the attitude of these buildings and strikes that rare balance of creating connectivity with the surrounding community, while also providing a protected, exclusive environment. Nothing likes this really exists in San Diego.  I was impressed by Zephyr’s vision and commitment to creating a high-quality community, unlike anything built in San Diego before. They wanted to take the time to do it right, and build a team that shared that vision. This was very appealing to me.”

Now this is correct, but how could have the project been nominated for both an Onion and Orchid. Unbelievable that anyone could think that this is not the best addition to the neighborhood. Thankfully something other than boring precast, concrete and stucco.
