Home to more than 1370 residents, Nuevo East is UC San Diego’s largest graduate and professional housing community. An integral keystone in the larger campus vision, Nuevo East is a pivotal portal to campus from the city with multiple pathways to adjacent East Mesa campus residential communities, including Mesa Nueva and Nuevo West. Linked landscapes and public spaces between the communities encourage students, faculty, staff and neighbors to connect and explore.

Residential spaces are anchored by the Exchange, a dynamic student resource center with multi-purpose amenity and gathering spaces, university offices and support programs to promote health and wellness. This facility activates the campus edge and defines a welcoming gateway and public plaza for special events like farmers markets, concerts, graduate student lectures and art installations. Its midrise massing, thoughtful materiality and design set the stage for future adjacent retail and mixed- use development in the site parcels to the south along Regents Road.

The Exchange and all of Nuevo East are certified LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
